Both regions are strong in promoting the game and each region is represented by 2 chapter councils who help foster and grow the game of rugby in its respective regions. Southern California is made up of the geogrpahicical area from San Diego up to San Luis Obispo. The Northern California region ranges from San Luis Obispo north to the Oregon Border. The current National Champions, Jesuit High School hail from Sacramento. Northern California is also known for its Kick Off Tournament held each winter in the Sacramento Valley Area. Southern California is home to some of the youngest players in the nation. The youth programs in the Southern California area range from as young as 5 years old to 18 years old. In 2009, the first Rugby California State Cup for high school took place in Southern California in Fallbrook where the Fallbrook Warriors and defending National Champions played in this inaugural event. While we have seen significant growth, safety remains our number one priority. Currently, Rugby California is working on policies that will enforced by Rugby California to promote safety and provide a positive environment in which our athletes can safely participate. Sportsmanship is a very important part of our structure. Every participant, and their parents, signs a Code of Conduct prior to the first practice and they agree to adhere to our required high standards of behavior Our Teams After all games the home team is required to provide a meal for their visitors, which allows both rugby players and parents to interact in a social atmosphere. Attendance is mandatory. This is an important aspect of the rugby community to help build on relationships between all clubs, players, and spectators. |
